Stereolithography (SLA) is a laser-based technology that rapidly builds components using a precise UV laser to cure and solidify thin layers of a photo-reactive liquid resin, or photo polymer. Stereolithogaphy technology is fast and produces models with impeccable detail accuracy and surface quality. The parts manufactured from SLA machining are built layer-by-layer resulting in highly accurate parts with quality surface finish and adequate mechanical properties. Uses for SLA machining tend to be form/fit models, mechanical models, master patterns for cast urethane, and SLA parts can be finished with paint and texture to form highly-cosmetic show models. The stereolithography process is also rapid with the ability to produce just about any design.
